The University of Arizona has been recognized as one of Adobe’s newest Creative Campus Innovators, joining a select group of global institutions transforming education for a digital-first world. Announced alongside Aston University in Birmingham, England, San José State University in California, and Western Sydney University in Australia, this distinction honors higher education leaders who are reimagining teaching and learning through creativity, digital fluency, and innovative technology integration.

Across universities worldwide, educators are reshaping how students prepare for a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Creative Campus Innovators go beyond simply adopting Adobe tools. They build inclusive, scalable programs that cultivate creative confidence, career readiness, and the standout visual portfolios employers increasingly expect. Their efforts are already contributing to improved academic performance and stronger student retention.

At the U of A, creativity is foundational to the learning experience. Under the leadership of Dr. Melody Buckner, associate vice provost for digital learning and online initiatives, the university has launched a series of high-impact programs that bring creative learning to life through hands-on practice and authentic assessment.

Among the most notable is the Adobe Digital Learning Institute (ADLI), a two-week summer workshop where faculty explore new ways to infuse creativity into their courses. Now entering its fifth year, ADLI has cultivated a thriving network of faculty fellows who mentor peers across campus, expanding the reach of creative teaching practices.

The university’s growing ecosystem of digital makerspaces further supports this work, offering students access to professional equipment, advanced machines, and Adobe software to create, collaborate, and experiment.

“We’re preparing students for the real world by helping them demonstrate their learning outcomes creatively and authentically,” Buckner said. “With AI shaping so much of how we learn and communicate, we’re exploring how Adobe and AI together can deepen creativity across the curriculum.”

Through the integration of creativity, technology, and data-informed teaching, the U of A continues to expand digital learning opportunities and build an academic environment where innovation thrives. This global recognition from Adobe underscores the university’s commitment to empowering students and faculty with the skills, confidence, and tools needed to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
