Who We Serve
UCATT supports the entire U of A teaching community—faculty, graduate students, postdocs, and staff—across all 20 colleges, whether you teach on campus, online, or both.

Recent highlights: In 2024-2025, we supported over 14,000 instructors through direct assistance and provided 1,700+ one-on-one consultations.

Seven specialized teams work together to support teaching and learning at U of A:
- Assessment – Learning outcomes assessment and student course surveys
- Creative Curriculum – Classroom visits promoting Adobe Creative Cloud training and digital literacy
- Educational Development – Workshops, teaching certificates, Writing Across the Curriculum, and Faculty Learning Communities
- Instructional Design – Online course development and Quality Matters reviews
- Instructional Technology – Brightspace, Top Hat, and integrated teaching tools
- Multimedia – Video production, podcasting, XR/VR, and Digital Maker Spaces
- Operations & Communications – Event coordination and campus-wide communication
Programs & Initiatives
Teaching Exchange Symposium – Our annual gathering brings together educators from across campus to share ideas, celebrate teaching, and build community.
University Council for Assessment and Annual Assessment Conference – Promoting a campus-wide culture that uses assessment results to promote continuous improvement of student learning.
Professional Development Pathways – Structured learning journeys on topics like AI in teaching, online course design, and instructional technology.
Writing Across the Curriculum – Support for integrating meaningful writing into courses across all disciplines.
Certificate in College Teaching – A comprehensive program for graduate students and postdocs developing their teaching skills.
Faculty Learning Communities – Cohort-based programs where instructors come together to explore shared teaching challenges, try new approaches, and learn from each other's experiences.
Collaborative Classrooms & Learning Assistants – Innovative classroom spaces paired with trained undergraduate learning assistants who support active learning and student engagement.
XR Collaborative – Exploring virtual and augmented reality applications in teaching and learning.
