National Day on Writing is a national recognition of all the writing we do in our personal and professional lives, as teachers and students, and as members of the U of A community. This year, we are celebrating with three days of events for both instructors and students. There are multiple modalities and ways to participate. We hope to see you there!

If you have questions or concerns, please contact Emily Jo Schwaller (emilyjoschwaller@arizona.edu) and/or Ryan Winet (rwinet@arizona.edu).

Wednesday, October 16 | Instructor Event

Main Library Data Studio and Zoom | Praxis Panel | 12-1:30pm

In this panel focused on teaching practices, former Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Faculty Fellows will share strategies for incorporating equitable writing instruction into the classroom. They represent various disciplines and course types, and we welcome all instructors to participate. Lunch will be provided for in-person participants.

We recognize that no one writes alone. Come find community, support, and excitement at this year’s National Day on Writing event at the Main Library from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. There will be Writing Center tutors, ePortfolio support, librarians, space for you to write, and pizza. Bring in your assignment prompts, lab reports, brainstorming ideas, full drafts, reading responses, and more! Everything counts as writing. No registration is required.

Friday, October 18 | Instructor Event

Zoom | Workshop on Teaching Async Online Courses | 10-11:15am

Writing happens in all course modalities and class sizes. In this workshop, we will discuss strategies for assessment, scaffolding research assignments, and low-stakes writing in asynchronous online courses. We invite all instructors – TAs, post-docs, career-track, and tenure-track instructors – and instructional teams to join.

Register by October 9 to Participate
