Interested in a faculty career that includes teaching? The CIRTL Postdoc Pathways Program, hosted by the University Center for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology (UCATT) and the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL), prepares postdoctoral scholars to become confident, evidence-based instructors through a one-year, cohort-based teaching certificate program.
Designed to complement a research appointment, the part-time program combines pedagogical training during the fall semester with a mentored co-teaching experience in the spring. Participants gain practical teaching experience while developing the knowledge and skills needed to support student success in undergraduate STEM education.
Over the course of the program, participants will:
- Build a strong foundation in evidence-based teaching practices.
- Develop practical instructional skills through workshops, reflection, and peer collaboration.
- Partner with an experienced faculty mentor to co-teach part of a course.
- Strengthen teaching portfolios and prepare for faculty positions.
Former participants report significant growth in their teaching practice, a deeper understanding of undergraduate STEM education, and increased confidence entering the academic job market.
Application Information
Accepted participants will attend an in-person orientation and welcome social on Thursday, September 17, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. The program begins the following week, with the cohort schedule determined in consultation with participants.
Applications for the 2026–2027 cohort are due by September 8. A letter of support from the applicant's principal investigator (PI) is required as part of the application.
