National Day on Writing

Where

National Day on Writing (NDoW) acknowledges that the act of writing and the many places, reasons, and ways we write each day are all important. Hundreds of schools, from preschool through university, join in celebrating writing in all its forms.

Our goal at the University of Arizona is to celebrate the value of writing across the curriculum and share hands-on and research-backed strategies that support meaningful writing experiences for students.

Supporting Multilingual Students with/out AI

10-11:30 am | Virtual

Collaborators: Lauren Harvey and Emily Palese (Writing Program)

This year for National Day on Writing, we are celebrating our multilingual students. As a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and land-grant institution, we have many multilingual students from Tucson and beyond. Artificial intelligence can help students in developing strategies for writing and language acquisition but also reveals deficit-based orientations and biases. In this workshop, we will work on hands-on activities and discussion to support multilingual students (and ourselves) in developing productive AI use and strategies.
