September 15 | Mining Civics in Uncommon Places
How does civic learning extend beyond traditional political contexts and appear across a wide range of disciplines? How do civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions intersect to promote civic learning? Join our panelists Dr. Jan Boyles, Dr. Raymond Smith, and Dr. Joshua Anderson to discuss practical ways to identify and cultivate civic dimensions within highly varied disciplinary teaching and learning.
September 22 | Civic Engagement through Student Discourse
How do I optimize different discourse formats and techniques to prompt civic learning with a clear purpose? How can perspective-taking help deepen critical civic engagement? How do I design against polarization, misinformation, and conflict in the classroom? Join Dr. Mascha Gemein and Dr. Treya Allen in exploring concrete practices, techniques, and strategies to use in your teaching.
