Valentín R. Mancha

Assistant Director, Digital Communications

Valentín R. Mancha is the Assistant Director of Digital Communications for the University Center for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology. In this role, he serves as the creative leader for a broad spectrum of visual design work, including screen-based media content, website layouts, apps, and other design projects. Mancha believes in using the principles of design to facilitate an optimal experience for the end-user, combining a pleasing appearance with effectively and impactfully conveying content. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Arts with a minor in Computer Information Systems from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Mancha also earned a Master of Science in Graphic Information Technology, M.S. GIT; with a concentration in Human-Centered Design, UX/UI & Accessibility from Arizona State University (ASU). He is passionate about minimalistic design, fine art, conceptual art, typography, letterpress, and following the Bauhaus School of design’s philosophy that form follows function. Good design reduces mental effort. 

Before Mancha came to UArizona, he worked in the private sector for 15+ years. At Sanders Wingo Advertising in El Paso, Texas, he helped to create ad campaigns for national clients that included AT&T, Frito-Lay, Sprint Corp., Ford Motor Co., and the Susan G. Komen Org among others.
