We are thrilled to announce that Top Hat and the University of Arizona have finalized a campus-wide enterprise license for Top Hat. With this license for Top Hat now in effect, all instructors, staff, and students can use their polling platform for free to help increase student engagement in any course. The Fall 2023 semester is being used for migration and implementation planning, and a full rollout of Top Hat will begin in the Spring 2024 semester.

Josh Butcher, Assistant Director of Instructional Technologies within UCATT, had the following to say about the new partnership with Top Hat, “This enterprise license will not only allow for increased student learning, engagement, and retention but also save our students thousands of dollars a year of out-of-pocket costs.” It took several years of gathering research and data but beginning last October 2022, the funds were committed, and the green light was given to conduct an RFP for an enterprise student response system. Butcher chaired the RFP committee that consisted of 18 voting members (15 faculty and 3 students). “I’m extremely proud of the dedication and commitment this committee displayed throughout this RFP process,” he said.

With Top Hat, you can automatically take attendance, spark conversations, and get real-time feedback from students as they participate in class on their computers, smartphones, or other web-enabled devices. You can also create and deliver dynamic content, interactive assignments, and tests and exams. Top Hat integrates with D2L’s Brightspace to ensure course rosters and grades stay in sync.

Best of all? Whether you teach in-person, online, or asynchronous courses, you will be fully supported while using Top Hat. From initial training to optimizing the design of your course, you’ll have access to resources and people who can help you make the most of the active learning platform.

Top Hat Events and Webinars
