Last chance to take advantage of this opportunity with colleagues across the country! This grant-funded project may not be extended past this semester!

The Inclusive STEM Teaching Project offers three ways to engage in professional development and learning, all based on a 6-week NSF-funded Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).

Ways to participate:

  1. Take the MOOC (2-3 hrs per week): All graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and staff are invited to enroll in the upcoming asynchronous Inclusive STEM Teaching Project MOOC (March 3 - April 26, 2024). The MOOC is a free 6-week course that introduces participants to principles of inclusive teaching and helps them apply these principles in tangible ways to their own teaching and learning contexts.
  2. Take the MOOC + learning community (3-4 hrs per week): There is an optional UArizona learning community (Mondays 1-2 pm Arizona time on Zoom).  Since the first session is during Spring Break, there will be asynchronous introductory activities available that week (March 4).  All other meetings will be held synchronously on Zoom (March 11-April 22, 2024). Participants will receive a certificate of completion for attending regularly.
  3. Take the MOOC + learning community + 1-unit Independent Study (4-5 hrs per week): For yet a deeper dive, you may take the MOOC and attend the learning community as part of a 1-credit independent study (IA 699). Participants will receive certificates of completion for both the MOOC and learning community and create their own teaching materials for the Independent Study.

By participating in the Inclusive STEM Teaching Project, you will learn how to:

  • Advance your awareness, self-efficacy, and ability to cultivate inclusive classroom environments;
  • Support your development as a reflective, inclusive practitioner;
  • Engage  in reflection and discussion around topics of equity and inclusion across  a variety of institutional contexts;
  • Implement inclusive teaching methods in your classes which will remove common barriers and enhance learning in STEM for all students.

To enroll in the MOOC, please register on EdX using your UArizona email.

Go here to sign up for the local UArizona learning community and, if interested, mark your interest in the IA 699 Independent Study option.
