You’ve submitted your course for review and gotten the final report back. Now what? The report may seem overwhelming initially, but the most important thing to remember is that you are not alone.

You’ve submitted your course for review and gotten the final report back. Now what? The report may seem overwhelming initially, but the most important thing to remember is that you are not alone. Support is a built-in part of the QM course review process, and our team will assist you every step of the way through amending your course.

The review report includes the reviewers’ decision of whether a Specific Review Standard is met or not yet met, their evidence for that decision, and – most importantly – suggestions for actionable, specific, and supportive improvement. While this makes the report a rich resource for improving the quality of your course design, it can be daunting at first glance. That is where we come in! Our support during the amendment phase is carried out through consultations between you and our trained Instructional Designer (ID). The ID will assist in the following:

Interpreting the Review Report

Before the amendment meeting, our trained ID will interpret the final review report and synthesize it so that you know which amendments to prioritize. This step will save you time figuring out what needs to be done, how, and when. Our  ID specifically:

  • Summarizes feedback for Not Met standards
  • Curates a list of possible revisions
  • Provides examples and resources

Creating an Action Plan

During the amendment meeting, our ID will assist you in creating a specific action plan, including a list of all the tasks needed to make your course design meet the QM standards. But we don’t leave you there! These tasks will be divided between the instructor and ID according to their competence and responsibility. We want to assure you that the ID is not there to force you to do things a specific way. So you are the designer, and we are the support; you conceptualize the design, and we make it happen.

Among other areas, our ID could help with the following:

  • Technical support
  • Accessibility checks and revisions
  • Course overall layout organization/structure
  • Interpreting the QM  rubrics

Continuing Post-Meeting Support

After the amendment meeting, our ID will continue to support you with your amendments and will be able to answer questions, provide feedback on changes, take on additional tasks as they arise, and (if necessary) be your liaison with the review chair.

If you haven’t done so already, you can easily request a QMIR for your course review.
