Meet the Instructor, Dr. Shelley McMahon
Meet the Instructor highlights the scholarship, teaching, and research career of Dr. Shelley McMahon.
This 7-min video, shot on location at the Tucson Botanical Gardens, highlights the scholarship, teaching, and research career of Dr. Shelley McMahon, Director of the U.A. Herbarium and Associate Professor of Practice in the School of Plant Sciences. Shelley is teaching her first iCourse, Origins of Food Plants, in Spring 2023. We created this video to add instructor presence to her iCourse and to ‘set the scene’ for non-plant science majors who may take her course as a Gen Ed. Requirement.
Other things to note
Shelley & I scouted out potential locations and decided on the Tucson Botanical Gardens. We worked with Steve Bayless and Ozlem Ozgur, part of UCATT’s Multimedia Team, to shoot and edit the video. Due to Steve’s close professional ties with AZPM, we were able to repurpose some footage of Shelley working inside the UA Herbarium to use in our video. It was previously shot by David Fenster and Jordan Chin and featured on an Arizona Illustrated segment.
