David Herring
David Herring is a Learning Curriculum Designer with the University Center for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology, where he helps develop and maintain dynamic curricula for departments across campus. Prior to joining the UCATT team, David spent 20 years at University High School in Tucson teaching AP English Literature and then AP Computer Science courses. With a background teaching literary analysis of poetry and prose as well as introducing students to foundational programming skills in Javascript, Java, Python, and HTML/CSS, David is interested in de-siloing knowledge and exploring cross-discipline avenues for problem-solving and creative expression. He is also interested in how new technologies, such as generative AI tools, are transforming education and how students and instructors can use these tools effectively.
Outside work, David enjoys cycling and hiking around Tucson, reading, coding, and traveling with his family.
