Quality Matters FAQs

First, you need to complete the workshop Applying the QM Rubric. After that, your name will be on a list of Active Reviewers. Each semester thereafter, you will receive the QM Newsletter, which invites you to volunteer as a reviewer for the upcoming semester.

Please fill out the QMIR Request form, and someone will follow up with you shortly.

There are at least two ways to advertise your QM-Certified course, though we also encourage you to add it to your syllabus. After your course has achieved certification, we will add a Quality Matters seal and verification link to the homepage of your course. We will also list your course on our website.

If you have any doubts about your course’s certification status, you should refer to our QM Multi-Section Policy. After reading this, you or the new instructor may request a QM seal for the new course via the request link provided on this page.

You are welcome to make any changes that you need to make to your course! Our hope is that, after completing the review process, you will have a better idea of how to design a course according to best practices. Regardless of this, three years after you complete the review, your course will undergo a recertification process. During recertification, you can address any changes that you have made since your original course review. 

Three years after your QM course review, a QM-trained reviewer will be assigned to review your course again. This person will reach out to you to start the recertification process. After receiving your permission to proceed, the reviewer will evaluate your course and work with you to update anything as needed to ensure that it still aligns with the rubric. Recertification is usually a much less time-consuming process than a full review, but it ultimately depends on how much you have changed your course in the past three years.
