Since 2015, The University of Arizona has been transforming centrally-scheduled classrooms into Collaborative Classrooms that facilitate active-learning strategies. Research shows students learn more and fail less when engaged in collaborative activities, and these innovative environments are designed to support evidence-based teaching practices that promote higher-order thinking and knowledge transfer.

Meet the U of A Classroom Committee
The U of A Classroom Committee brings together expertise from across the university and includes representatives from:
- UCATT- Educational vision, strategic planning, and communication
- Facilities Maintenance - Construction, renovation, and ongoing maintenance
- Classroom Technology Services - Audio, visual, and control systems
- Disability Resource Center - Physical and technology accessibility
- Registrar - Classroom scheduling and coordination of classroom support
This collaborative approach ensures that every classroom transformation considers pedagogy, technology, accessibility, and long-term sustainability. Committee members work closely with departments to design, plan, prepare, and construct spaces that truly serve teaching and learning needs.
