Valentin R. Mancha
Valentin R. Mancha is the Assistant Director of Digital Communications at the University Center for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology (UCATT) at the University of Arizona. He leads a wide range of visual design projects, including websites, digital media, print collateral, and app interfaces, with a focus on human-centered design, accessibility, and user experience.
He also serves as Adjunct Faculty in the Illustration + Design + Animation (IDA Program) at the College of Fine Arts, School of Art, where he mentors students in portfolio development, branding, and identity systems. His teaching emphasizes clarity, strategy, and professional presentation, helping students connect design thinking with real-world application.
Previously, Mancha taught graphic design and digital publishing at Pima Community College, blending foundational design principles with technical skills in Adobe Creative Suite to prepare students for the creative workforce.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Computer Information Systems from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and a Master of Science in Graphic Information Technology from Arizona State University (ASU), specializing in Human-Centered Design and UX/UI.
With more than 24 years of industry experience, Mancha worked at Sanders Wingo Advertising, where he contributed to national campaigns for clients including AT&T, Frito-Lay, Sprint, Ford Motor Company, Honeywell, RCA, Sony, Magnabox, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. His approach is rooted in minimalism and the Bauhaus philosophy that form follows function, believing that good design should reduce mental effort and communicate with clarity.
